Sumela Monastery

Sumela Monastery (Turkish: Sümela Manastırı) is a Greek Orthodox monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary at Mela Mountain (Turkish: Karadağ), in the Maçka district of Trabzon Province, Turkey.

The monastery was fonded in 386 AD during the reign of the Emperor Theodosius I (375  - 395).
